Calling all foodies: it’s time for a reality check. Summer is almost over, which means the days of rolled ice cream, family barbeques and delicious frozen cocktails are coming to an end. But don’t worry – we’re here to provide a rather obscure opinion: autumn meals are some of the best. As we descend into colder temperatures, it’s easy to get bogged down in seasonal clichés. It’s a well-known fact that enjoying freshly baked pumpkin pie, tasty s’mores treats next to the bonfire or a nice, warm glass of spiced cider is a large part of what makes autumn so enjoyable. Nevertheless, there’s much more to appreciate about the pre-winter months than these beloved indulgences. Explore our secret ingredients to help you fall out of your summer food frenzy.
Ingredient One: Find something that will warm your soul until next year’s summer solstice. It’s time to start changing the way you’re thinking… and eating. The warmer seasons tend to provide foods to keep us cool when the sun is high and the temperature is higher. When temperatures begin to plummet, our only saving grace could be a delightfully crafted VB Turkey Sammy. That’s right, our classic turkey sandwich is available 6-days a week in hopes of lifting holiday spirit a tad early this year. No need to wait until Thanksgiving to devour succulent honey roasted turkey atop of toasty grain bread, served with a generous helping of cranberry mayonnaise, lettuce, bacon and tomato. It may not be a relaxing family barbeque, but we like to think that this flavorsome comfort food is the perfect way to sendoff the summer season.
Ingredient Two: Try throwing a few snacks into the autumn-themed mix. We’re going to recommend some savory noshes for in-between autumn meals (good thing bathing suit season is over!)
